Obama’s rhetoric on human trafficking

Sheila Liaugminas | 28 September 2012
He probably means what he says, or at least we should extend that presumption of goodwill. But he doesn’t say what he means, as proven by the policies his administration has enforced.

Obama more comfortable campaigning than governing

Sheila Liaugminas | 23 September 2012
It doesn’t take a political pundit to see that.

Obama’s internet ‘kill swtich’

Sheila Liaugminas | 22 September 2012
A long time ago I saved news links to a story that got very little buzz at the time but caught my attention…the possibility that the president might issue an executive order to control the internet, under the pretext of security concerns. The story has recycled now, I’m not good at cleaning out saved files, and so dots are easier to connect.

Romney stumble?

Sheila Liaugminas | 21 September 2012
Depending on the media outlet you followed or saw more this past week, you either heard that presidential candidate Mitt Romney was revealed to hold extreme views of American citizens by class, or spoke the truth about taxpayer realities. He either blundered in an unsalvageable gaffe, or hit the chord that resonated finally with voters both partisan and until now, undecided.

Media driving the narrative on Mideast violence?

Sheila Liaugminas | 19 September 2012
They are trying.

What the Muslim outrage is really about

Sheila Liaugminas | 17 September 2012
Power. Not a ‘dopey’ short video, which few rioters likely even saw.

Libyan attack: coordinated and planned?

Sheila Liaugminas | 13 September 2012
It was not impassioned spontaneous combustion, inflamed by a video of the prophet Muhammed, as reported by a lot of media. That video had been on the internet for about a month, then picked up by Egyptian media on September 8th.

Navy SEALs get more attention

Sheila Liaugminas | 12 September 2012
For an elite special operations force that relies on stealth and anonymity, the SEALs sure have been in the limelight this year. It’s probably the one place on earth they’re not exactly prepared to be.

The vision of Barack Obama

Sheila Liaugminas | 11 September 2012
After nearly four years, we should know by now. But big media either don’t care to know, or don’t want us to know what they know. Good thing they’re no longer the gatekeepers for information access.

God and Israel and the Democrats

Sheila Liaugminas | 10 September 2012
That floor fiasco over the party platform was reported as the Democrats ‘booing God.’ Which is only partially true.

The Dems agenda

Sheila Liaugminas | 06 September 2012
Throughout the Republicans’ primary debates and into the GOP convention, that party was accused of being too focused on social issues and not the fiscal ones that matter to the country. Now, the Democrats opened their convention with a heavy emphasis on…social issues.

Question for President Obama

Sheila Liaugminas | 04 September 2012
As The Economist expressed it for everyone else who wants to know: “One question, Mr. President…just what would you do with another four years?”

Work and leisure in right order

Sheila Liaugminas | 04 September 2012
Many people overdo their work life and many people mishandle their leisure time and many are probably the same people. Labor Day is a good time to consider what we’re celebrating and how.

GOP convention wrap

Sheila Liaugminas | 03 September 2012
These things used to be a bigger deal, a much bigger deal, and carried more weight and drama than they do now. But they still make for some high drama, some inspiring moments, some revelations, and lots of goofy hats. They are, after all, parties.
