This story is picking up press, and it should. Freedom of speech is at the heart of it, as is the effort yet again to attack legitimate expression of belief, expressed…where? In a classroom setting that fosters intellecutal inquiry and critical thinking skills? Not exactly.

Religiously informed people already know from where moral guidelines derive, and it's not government. But Pope Benedict XVI brought up that point again when he addressed “problems revolving around the issue of bioethics” with the Pontifical Academy for Life, in their annual meeting.

floor of the United Nations General Assembly, I haven’t seen anything
focus on what President Barack Obama referred to as the UN founding
charter, its mission, and that of the United States….the universal
human rights of all people everywhere.
