Stephenie Meyer, author of Twilight, worked hard to keep her characters chaste until their marriage. They struggled with the desires that come with dating and Edward’s hope to remain ‘traditional’ and wait until they were married before they entered into a sexual relationship.

The report states that 29% of females and 27% of males aged 15 to 24 years have never had sexual contact with another person. The figure, which was compiled from studies conducted from 2006 to 2008, is higher that the results published in 2002.
