Wasting products (and money)

Katie Hinderer | 12 July 2012

I’ve declared July and August to be the months of Good To The Last Drop. I’m going to refrain from buying new products and work on using the ones I have here, even if that means using ones I don’t love but still work fine.

The bold trends

Katie Hinderer | 22 February 2012
The current clothing trends are all about bold, vibrant, stand-out colors. Neon and cobalt are the great trends.

How to host a clothing swap

Katie Hinderer | 27 January 2012
A few months ago I hosted my very first clothing swap. The premise is simple, every attendee brings gently used clothing that they are no longer using. You get the chance to get rid of things you can't fit into or are no longer interested in and can take home someone else's quality castaways.

30 for 30 – Repurposing your wardrobe

Katie Hinderer | 28 December 2010
This week I finished a 30-day fashion blogger challenge. I had to pick 30 items from my closet (including shoes but excluding accessories) and remix them into 30 different outfits to be worn over a 30-day period. No outfit repeats, no shopping during that time and no wearing an item that is not part of the 30 pre-picked items.

The must-haves of the season. Really?

Katie Hinderer | 19 December 2010
The more I read those articles the more annoyed I become with the idea of must-haves.

The shift to thrift

Katie Hinderer | 01 December 2010
What was once relegated to low-income families and people without much fashion sense, has suddenly become the thing to do. Forget how much you spent on an outfit. It’s not about what you didn’t spend. Fashion on a budget.

How to shop for pants

Katie Hinderer | 06 July 2010
I’ve come to the conclusion that there are two types of women in this world. Those who buy clothes that are too big for them and those that buy clothes that are too small. Rarely have I come across someone who buys the right size all the time - especially when it comes to pants.

Guys: speak up, go shopping

Katie Hinderer | 10 May 2010
Dads, brothers, close friends or relatives need to take advantage of the situation and speak up when they see a girl close to them dressing or behaving in a way that is not in keeping with their true worth.

Reach for trends, stay away from fads

Katie Hinderer | 11 February 2010
While many of us would like an unlimited budget for fashion purchases, let's be honest we need to be frugal - even more so in recent years.Still, it's important to be current and look our best. The key to thisis knowing the difference between a trend and a fad.

Find unique pieces without leaving home

Katie Hinderer | 10 February 2010
Etsy.com online portal is the home for all things handmade. You can buy coin purses, wall art, jewelry, baby blankets, candles, soap… basically if you can name it and it can be made by hand you’re going to find it on the site.
