David Malet is a Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Melbourne. Previously he was Assistant Professor of Political Science at Colorado State University-Pueblo, where he served as the founding Director of the Center for the Study of Homeland Security, and then as the inaugural Director of the University Honors Program.
He received his PhD in Political Science from The George Washington University in 2009. Prior to that, he served as a defense and foreign policy aide to United States Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle.
Dr. Malet’s research concerns transnational security issues, the transformation of warfare, identity politics, and tensions between national security and human security. His book, Foreign Fighters, is forthcoming from Oxford University Press. He has published in venues including Journal of Diplomacy, Orbis, The Social Science Journal, Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, and Small Wars Journal.
