Jamie Shupe

Jamie Shupe is the first person in America to have their sex legally designated by a United States court as non-binary. Jamie’s court victory occurred in Portland, Oregon on June 10, 2016.

Jamie Shupe retired as a Sergeant First Class (E7) from the United States Army after serving as a tank mechanic, squad leader, platoon sergeant, and then Maintenance Control Sergeant (senior enlisted leader) for the Direct Support Maintenance Facility of the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York.
