Celebrities are people too
I was reading a beauty blog this week where the writer penned a letter to Lindsay Lohan as she entered prison. The seven-paragraph letter basically tore the young actress apart; pointing out everything she had done wrong in the last several years, all the ways her life was messed up, all the things she should have done differently. These unsolicited letters and commentary on celebrities mistakes is a common trend in the blogging and writing world. The shame is that these writers pen such posts without any respect for the person they are speaking of. Afterall, celebrities are people too.
Sure Lindsay Lohan has made some mistakes recently, but if anyone is aware of those failings I’m sure she is. To then have those events splattered across tabloids, blogs and written about by any random person on the web, it must be degrading and disheartening. Besides we don’t know the whole story, even if we think we do thanks to the tabloids constant coverage.
And for the blogger writing these things, what if this were you? Everyone has past ghosts that they would cringe at being made public and dissected in the blogoshpere. Celebrities, no matter the number of movies they’ve been in, are still human beings. They have feelings, emotions, sorrows, joys and they are working through all of it just like we are.
