Chic dresses direct from the thrift store

One of the great things about being a freelance writer and fashion blogger is having the ability to sift through dozens of fashion and beauty blogs weekly. I tend to discover a lot of blogs that I like, but it’s a rare find when one is truly awe-inspiring. Yesterday I literally stumbled across an amazing blog that was immediately bookmarked!

New Dress A Day is all about being economical, crafty and super creative. The blog’s author, Marisa, set a personal goal. For an entire year she’d wear a new item of clothing daily that she bought for cheap at a thrift shop and subsequently altered. She vowed not to spend more than $365 on clothing for the entire year. Marisa swore off even the most affordable shops in favor of a more economical and creative alternative. As she says, “365 days. 365 items of clothing. 365 dollars. And the blogging begins…”

I spent nearly an hour scrolling through her site. The before and after pictures are amazing. This girl manages to pull off fashion forward and covet-worthy pieces by altering some of the most unflattering, ugly and archaic pieces. It makes me want to run to my nearest thrift store or garage sale, buy the ugliest thing I can find and see how I can make it wearable. I’m inspired!

You have to see for yourself what Marisa can do with almost nothing. Check out her blog here.
