A couple months ago I stumbled upon the website eShakti. It’s a women’s online retailer that sells mostly dresses. At first glance, the wide assortment of dresses impressed me; but upon further exploration (and a little too much time on the site) I realized eShakti is a goldmine for any woman who has ever searched in vain for a perfect dress.

In the US it’s now mid-summer and the temperatures are climbing daily. Dresses and skirts are my preference for these sweltering days but I’ve found it impossibly hard to find a dress that isn’t low cut, that has straps, that hits near my knees… it’s a fruitless shopping attempt to find such an anomaly. I figured eShakti would be the same as most other online retailers – short dresses made for someone closer to 5’2” than 5’10”. But the site lets you customize the dress of your choice for a mere $7.50 more.

Want the dress to hit above your knee, below your knee or mid-calf – no problem. They can do that. Want to add a long sleeve or cap sleeve – they can do that too. Have a body that doesn’t fit the traditional size structure – they can custom make the dresses based on your specific measurements.

I just ordered my first dress from the site and am waiting in anticipation for its arrival. I lengthened the dress to hit just below my knee and added a little sleeve too.

The site also sells pants, tops and skirts – all of which can be customized.
