Fighting porn addiction (1)

Given the ever-growing body of research, it can no longer be denied that repeated porn exposure has a tangible effect on consumers, and is connected to declining relationship satisfaction as well as various forms of exploitation. This isn’t a moral argument, it’s simply something to consider given the facts.

A group called Fight the New Drug has just released three half-hour videos about how pornography affects individuals, relationships and society.

This is excellent stuff: great information, authoritative voices, terrific presentation. Every parent and every teacher should watch them.

Watch the trailer below. If you’re interested in seeing the full film, visit its website, Heart, Brain, World and follow the prompts. You’ll have to leave your name and email. Watching the films is free for individuals. For public screenings for groups, it costs US$49.99.

The first episode, “The Brain”, dives into the scientific research that illustrates the physiological and neurological harms pornography has on individuals. It’s an addiction, a scary, shameful, secret addiction. The first-person stories of two guys and a girl who broke free are incredibly moving.
