Handwringing at the UN
Especially in the Security Council, over North Korea. But just like
in the case of Iran’s enrichment of uranium for the past few years in
defiance of every warning of that council…..nothing gets done.
They just keep meeting, and worrying.
After a three-hour emergency session Sunday, the United
Nations Security Council failed to come to any agreement on how to deal
with North Korea’s rocket launch over the weekend…
Officials believe the most that could happen would be a Security
Council presidential statement condemning the launch and a possible
attempt to reaffirm existing U.N. sanctions on Pyongyang. They do not
expect new sanctions to be imposed.
There’s a hefty disincentive.
