Marijuana infused drinks?
Whether we like it or not, marijuana is legally used for medical purposes in a number of places around the world. It seems that the cannabis plant has been known for its healing qualities for some centuries now. While this is the case, I am sure most would agree – being aware also of the more common harmful uses of the drug today – that we should keep any marijuana use to a minimum. Hopefully those who use the drug in medicine form do so for lack of a better option.
This being said, it wouldn’t be the most prudent of actions to normalise medical marijuana use. However a possible new line of drinks containing the substance will do just that. Founded by Clay Butler, he’s hoping to get flavours including Canna Cola, Doc Weed, Sour Diesel, Grape Ape and Orange Kush onto California shelves in coming months.
I don’t claim to be any expert on the advantages versus disadvantages of marijuana. However I can say that subconsciously, this kind of drink is bound to create undeserved approval in young minds. Just a glimpse of the packaging is reminiscent of the currently overly-popular energy drinks that contain more caffeine and sugar than the average person should consume in a day. The huge popularity of these drinks among teens would likely spur sales of these new mellow drinks. Why the sudden obsession with energy drinks these days anyway?
