About
Nick of Time
Nick McIver is a modern day Jim Hawkins in this action packed thriller that promises to become a classic. The story begins on Greybeard Island, off the coast of France, where twelve year old Nick lives with his family in the island’s lighthouse. A descendent of naval captains and pilots, Nick longs to be a hero like his idol, Lord Horatio Nelson. The opportunity arises when he and his younger sister Kate discover a sea chest containing a time machine, sent to Nick by his great great-grandfather. The McIver children find themselves fighting both the Nazis and pirates hired by Napoleon Bonaparte, as they defend England against two of her greatest enemies. In the process Nick learns what true heroism is and proves himself to be a young man of many virtues including compassion, responsibility, patriotism, self-sacrifice and upright intention. Don’t be fooled by the length of this book. It is a fast-paced must read for “young- adults” of all ages.
