Protesting Lady Gaga

Finally, people are speaking out against Lady Gaga and her near pornographic concerts – and it’s making a difference! Last week, when she arrived to perform in the Philippines, Lady Gaga was met by protests by a young Christian group. The people marched in Manila for two days to get the word out that her songs and acts were offensive to them and to their faith. Even before the pop musician arrived she and her team had to agree to remove all nudity and lewd acts from her performance.
In South Korea, fans who were under 18 years of age were banned from the concert due to her lyrics and costumes.
And now, Lady Gaga has canceled her concert in Jakarta due to threats from Islamic groups that they would cause chaos if it went forward. The Islamic Defenders Front has called her the "devil's messenger" and complained that all her costumes merely consisted of "bra and panties."
While I don’t think threats should be made against Lady Gaga and her team, I still find it encouraging that groups are speaking out and making others think about what these shows really represent – the message they really send.
Now if only more people would begin speaking out about her concerts, her music videos, her song lyrics. We could certainly use the buzz.
