About
Sexuality, integrity and the university
Some days it is all too easy to see everything that is apparently going wrong in the world, wars, political problems, untimely deaths, etc… But there are also things that can give hope; a ray of light that proves goodness, truth and beauty is still out there and operating in our every day.
Recently I was forwarded information about the 5th annual Love and Fidelity conference to be held at Princeton University. I think this event is one of those shining moments. According to the press release…
Days before the election in which 4 states will decide whether to redefine marriage, hundreds of university students, faculty, and young professionals will convene at Princeton University for a conference in support of traditional marriage, family, and sexual integrity.
On Friday and Saturday, November 2nd and 3rd, over 200 students, faculty, and alumni from nearly 30 universities will attend The Love and Fidelity Network’s fifth annual conference on Sexuality, Integrity, and the University. The conference connects college men and women to leading scholars and experts in order to equip them with the best arguments and resources in support of marriage, family, and sexual integrity.
Conference speakers include Dr. Mark Regnerus, who will contribute to a panel discussion on his controversial New Family Structures Study (June 2012); Roland Warren, former President of the National Fatherhood Initiative, who will discuss the relevance of marriage to students and the ways minority communities have suffered from a decline in marriage; Dr. Patrick Fagan, who will present his research on the relationship between the current economic crisis and our withdrawal from marriage as a culture; and Dr. J. Budziszewski, who will discuss the natural laws and meaning of sex. Participants will also have an opportunity to attend practical workshops during which they can learn social media techniques and receive training in communications, among other skills.
Students attending Sexuality, Integrity, and the University will hail from seven Ivy League universities and other top tier institutions. The fifth annual conference is co-hosted by 14 Princeton faculty, academic staff, and clergy supporters, including Ignacio Rodriguez-Iturbe, Robert P. George, and Maria Garlock, as well as Muslim and Christian campus chaplains, and co-sponsored by the William E. Simon Foundation, the Chiaroscuro Foundation, the Christian Union, and the Intercollegiate Studies Institute.
I'm looking forward to hearing more about this event after it takes place and possily featuring some of the main ideas right here on Tiger Print.
