Stars Above Us
Many children are afraid of the dark. Amanda's father helps her overcome her fears by putting glowing stars on the ceiling of her room and teaching her about the North Star. When he leaves to serve in the armed forces, they both know that they can look up, see the North Star and make a wish. Amanda wishes her father will come home soon. When he does, he finds many more glowing stars, as well as planets and comets, on Amanda's ceiling.
Geoffrey Norman offers a creative way to help children over their fear of the dark in this, his first picture book. Amanda and her father have a close bond that reaches across many miles during their separation. Children who are far from a loved one will appreciate the positive outlook the book presents.
