CatholicVote.org, the site responsible for the brief but poignant
video some of the major networks were afraid to air in a paid
commercial spot….has teamed with the Cardinal Newman Society in its campaign to protest the Notre Dame decision.

The ticker is still counting, but as of this moment, there are 119,200 signers, all in just five days.

I was asked again on radio this morning if I’m surprised by any of
this. Notre Dame involved in a controversy, no. The audacious move by
the university president around his local bishop, sort of. The breadth
and depth of the outrage just since the announcement last Friday, yes.

I guess the only thing that would trump this in shock value is if
either president (Obama or Jenkins) cancelled these plans. For Notre
Dame, it’s an eminently teachable moment. For Obama, a learning one.
